Description: Accessibility Improvements and Rehabilitation of 3 Schools in Navoi Region, Uzbekistan (Lot 9): School No. 21, School No. 41, School No. 5

  • Construction/restoration of ramps for entry into the school grounds, into the building, and to emergency exits
  • Installation of rubber threshold ramps to overcome door thresholds
  • Renovation and refurbishment of premises for inclusive water supply infrastructure with connection to utility networks (septic tank in the absence of access to sewerage and installation of a solar heating system)
  • Installation of washbasins in school canteens Installation of stair railings and handrails
  • Installation of handrails and railings in corridors
  • Adapting food service lines in school cafeterias to the requirements of inclusive education
  • Installation of an elevator in the assembly hall for access to the stage (applicable only to schools with cafeterias located on the second floor).
  • Installation of an emergency call system at the main entrance, in the dining room and inclusive restroom
  • Installation of tactile concrete tiles on the paths leading to the entrance to the school grounds and to the main entrance to the school building (warning and guiding)
  • Installation of tactile PVC tiles inside the school building (warning and guiding)
  • Installing contrasting strips on steps
  • Installation of signs and mnemonic diagrams with Braille font
  • Installation of sound beacons and navigation systems
  • Installation of an information kiosk (information stand) designed to provide reference information, display an interactive building map, and directions around it. Students with visual impairments can change the font size and color, while students with hearing impairments can receive audio information directly to their hearing aids or cochlear implants.
  • Converting one classroom into a digital STEM lab
  • Conversion of an additional room, currently used as a school psychologist's office, into an inclusive room for additional classes with students
