Objective:

The Association of European Jewish Museums (AEJM), established in 1989, is the leading non-profit network of museums and other professionals dedicated to preserving and promoting European Jewish cultural heritage. With 51 institutional members from EU Member States and 17 members from EFTA, EU Neighbourhood politics, and third countries, AEJM fosters transnational collaboration, mutual learning, knowledge-sharing, and professional development across its network. The organization’s activities include annual conferences, training programs in curatorial and educational practices, digital resource development, and public awareness initiatives such as the European Day of Jewish Culture. AEJM’s programs emphasize combating antisemitism, promoting diversity, and addressing intersectional issues, ensuring the inclusion of marginalized groups within Jewish communities. Aligned with the EU’s Citizenship, Equality, Rights, and Values (CERV) objectives, AEJM contributes to preserving European heritage, fostering intercultural dialogue, and supporting democratic values. The organization’s planned initiatives under the multi-annual framework partnership aim to enhance professional expertise among museum professionals, increase public awareness of Jewish culture, and strengthen Holocaust education to combat antisemitism. Through its extensive network and international collaborations, AEJM ensures the transferability of its results across Europe, fostering a shared understanding of Jewish heritage as a vital part of European identity.
