Project Details:

The Horticulture Export Clusters Development Project was a pilot program designed to advance the exports of green raisins and pomegranates in Kandahar province. The aim of the project was to improve relationships between traders and farmers; provide a link between the trader and the buyer and to design and install improved drying houses for raisins in order to meet market standards.

Beneficiaries: Increase market price of exported pomegranates by 80%, 13 lead “train the trainers” educated in agribusiness best practices, 60 dealers trained in marketing, branding and packaging, 90 farmers introduced new fruit drying technology, 500 farmers trained in post-harvest and product handling.
