Description

Client: Health Infrastructure
Service: Project Management

The redevelopment of the Bega Valley Health Service will consolidate a number of services currently provided from the Bega and Pambula Hospitals.

The new South East Regional Hospital will deliver expanded service capacity, new clinical services, increased sub-specialties and contemporary, integrated models of care which better meet the health care needs of the community. Having led the preparation of all Round 3 Health and Hospital Fund applications and business cases for the NSW Ministry of Health, which received over $600m of funding from the Commonwealth Government, Johnstaff was appointed as Project Manager for the construction of a new hospital in Bega in southern NSW.

The project comprises the reconfiguration of service delivery across south east NSW to achieve a critical mass of resources which enables the safe and sustainable delivery of high quality, patient-centric services.

The new 134-inpatient bed hospital, built over 3 floors and 28,000sqm, will address strategic infrastructure requirements of the region and deliver contemporary, flexible and adaptable facilities aligned with community needs. The project includes the construction of a new major regional hospital, the South East Regional Hospital on a greenfield site, which will consolidate acute services currently provided from the Bega and Pambula Hospitals.

The project also comprises a hub and spoke service model whereby the existing Pambula Hospital site will be transitioned to provide a comprehensive range of community health services for continued ease of local access to these services.

Johnstaff has led the resolution of clinical planning issues, management of district issues associated with service reconfiguration across the Bega and Pambula Hospitals, provided health planning and functional briefing and undertaken ongoing consultation with Health Infrastructure to maximise service and facility outcomes.
