Description

Project title: Europe Direct Information Centre Network (EDIC)
Detailed description of project:
Europe Direct Information Centre Network (EDIC) in EU Member states is one of the instruments used by European Commission for informing the general society on the national
level. In January of Year 2013 the third generation of EDIC Network was launched for 2013- 2017 funding period.

The main goal of EDIC Network is to provide more opportunities for citizens in getting practical information regarding their rights in European Union. In addition, each EDIC regularly provides feedbacks from EU citizens to EU Institutions and actively promotes national and regional debates on EU topics.

LCCI coordinates EDICs in four big Latvian cities – Riga, Daugavpils, Jekabpils and Liepaja. The aim of EDICs which are coordinated by LCCI is to provide to the citizens of Riga and regions the updated information regarding civil rights in EU countries, 10 EU priorities as well all areas of EU activities, which could affect EU citizens’ daily life. EDICs promote citizens’ interest and activities as well motivate them to express their opinions on both local and regional level.
