About
The Intersectorial Association for Economic Development and Social Progress (CIDEP), was born on February 20, 1989 at the initiative of several social organizations in the country, initially called "Intersectorial Commission for Popular Development" and arises from the need to unify criteria and actions in the field of economic management for the execution of projects aimed at providing financial support, training, technical advice and others for social organizations and communities.
In 1994, CIDEP obtains its legal status as a non-profit association and adopts education as a strategic work axis, from a popular conception, strengthening its work in rural and marginal urban areas of the country, with the perspective of improving living conditions of the population most excluded from economic and social development.
This pedagogical and social practice for more than two decades, locates CIDEP as an institution specialized in education, which has gained national and international recognition, for its strength, reliability and for being a reference in different areas of national educational work. In addition, the Association has always maintained its historic social commitment to contribute to the democratic construction of changes and social justice through the human rights approach that predominates in the different programs it develops.
CIDEP develops alternative, innovative, comprehensive and quality educational processes and models, aimed at children, poor and marginalized young people and adults in the country, with an emphasis on the rural area, in order to help them meet their needs , that strengthen their competences for life, for work and continuous learning, that stimulates the practice of human values and critical and proactive reflection towards a more human and solidary coexistence, of equal relations between men and women, defense of human rights and the environment, contributing towards the democratic transformation of Salvadoran society.
