ActionAid Kenya

ActionAid is a non-political, non-religious organisation that has been working in Kenya since 1972 to end poverty and injustice. ActionAid is among the leading anti-poverty agencies working directly with over one million poor and excluded people in over 20 districts of Kenya. Starting in the early 1970s with educating children, ActionAid now focuses on tackling the root causes of poverty rather than just meeting people’s immediate needs. The organisation is primarily concerned with defending and raising awareness of human rights, be they economic, social, cultural, civil or political.

Africa is the heart of ActionAid. It’s where our head office is, and it’s where we started our work more than 40 years ago. We’re working with inspiring people in Africa, from Masai women activists to former child soldiers in Liberia to teachers in Senegal.
ActionAid works in more than 21 countries across Africa, and the ActionAid International Secretariat is based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Key themes in our work are HIV & AIDS prevention, care and treatment, peace building, famine relief and food rights, and education.
