About

ACLED (Armed Conflict Location & Event Data) produces the highest quality and most widely used real-time data and analysis on political violence and protest around the world.

ACLED is an independent nonprofit organization registered in the United States. We offer precise, disaggregated, locally informed, evidence-based information for use by academics, policymakers, humanitarian practitioners, journalists, and the wider public.

With over 200 staff, the majority of whom are collecting or quality-checking ACLED data, the organization’s coverage has expanded from just six countries in Central Africa in 2005 to the entire world today. In total, ACLED has now recorded over 1.9 million political violence and protest events globally from sources in more than 100 languages.

We are guided by core principles of transparency, conflict sensitivity, reliability, and impartiality. Alongside our own staff and researchers working in more than 70 countries, our data collection is supported and enriched through more than 80 partnerships with organizations across the world.
