The Minister of Mines and Energy implements the State's policy on mining, hydrocarbons and energy and monitors it with the collaboration of other ministries and institutions concerned.
The Minister of Mines and Energy is responsible for:
- plan, organize, coordinate, control and develop all mining and energy activities;
- manage the state's mining sector and ensure optimal exploitation of mineral wealth;
- to ensure the satisfaction of domestic demand and the self-sufficiency and security of supply of electricity;ensure control, quality of products and energy infrastructure;
- promote the research and use of new and renewable energies, as well as fossil fuels;
- exercise technical control over extractive industry and power plant installations.
