The aim of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts is to provide art education at the highest level. Since its foundation in 1871, it has nurtured Hungary's living artistic traditions and is constantly reflecting on contemporary art trends. The diplomas awarded by the Departments of Painter, Graphic Art, Intermedia, Fine Art Theory, Visual Designer, Restorer, Sculptor and Doctoral School guarantee excellent theoretical and practical knowledge. The MKE's exhibition spaces (headed by the Barcsay Hall), library and collection are open to visitors throughout the year. The Epreskert studio houses, the Feszty House, the Intermedia Building, the downtown Labor Gallery and the Tihany Colony of Artists are all integral parts of the university.
