Description
EUFOR – European Union Force is the military unit of the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina, established in 2004. More than 15 nations have joined EUFOR in order to support the maintenance of a safe and secure environment by working together with local communities and authorities.
EUFOR's role in an integrated approach is to help to create the conditions for achieving a long-term political goal - a stable, viable, peaceful and multi-ethnic BiH, peacefully cooperating with its neighbours and moving irreversibly towards EU membership. EUFOR has a network of 17 liaison and surveillance teams spread across BiH. Every year, during the Exercise Quick Response, EUFOR practices the rapid deployment of country reserves and demonstrates its strength and readiness to provide continuous support to the country’s security. Its main objectives include supporting the training and development of AFBiH towards NATO standards, performing the functions in accordance with the Dayton Agreement and contributing to a safe and secure national environment. The main decisions in the operational process are taken by the Council of the European Union.
EUFOR focus sectors: Conflict, Military, National Security & Defence Policy, Safe Environment, Peace Stabilization & Preservation, Training, etc.
