About
The Ministry of Basic Education (MINEB) is the government institution in Cameroon responsible for developing and carrying out the country's basic education strategy. It oversees pre-primary, primary, and lower-secondary education, as well as curriculum and instructional materials development, teacher education, and professional growth.
The Ministry collaborates with other government agencies, foreign organizations, and non-governmental organizations to enhance the level of basic education in the country. Additionally, it is responsible for studies and research on the best practices for basic education, the formulation of management and assessment principles for institutions, the ethical, civic, and intellectual growth of school-age children, and the oversight and management of administrative and pedagogical leadership of public and private institutions. The Ministry is led by a Minister who is chosen by the President of Cameroon and reports to the Prime Minister.
