Médicos del Mundo (MdM) - Palestine

Médicos del Mundo has been present in the Occupied Palestinian Territory since 2006. Since then our work has consisted of dealing with successive emergencies, supporting the public health system. In the West Bank, we focus our work on protecting the population that suffers from political violence derived from the occupation, such as the demolitions of homes and other infrastructure, such as schools. For this reason, we give priority to mental health interventions and psychosocial support to affected communities, many of them Bedouin. In Gaza, the difficult living conditions as a result of the blockade imposed, the deterioration of the humanitarian situation and the consequences of the last war, have especially affected the most vulnerable groups (children and adolescents), who often present depression.

Ongoing projects:

Improvement of comprehensive psychosocial care services aimed at the population of the Jericó Governorate, with an emphasis on inter-institutional and community coordination Duration: November 25, 2021 – November 24, 2022. Reinforcement of the protection of the Palestinian communities affected by critical incidents related to the occupation in the West Bank, through the emergency response in terms of mental and psychosocial health, the promotion of resilience and humanitarian promotion Budget: 205,000 euros. Duration: June 15, 2021 – December 31, 2022.
