On June 18th 2010, the Prime Minister issued the Decision No. 924/QĐ-TTg accepting that PETROVIETNAM is the State-owned Company Limited-Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (short name is Vietnam Oil and Gas Group) with international transaction name is Petrovietnam, PVN for short.
Now it covers all the operations from oil and gas exploration and production to storage, processing, transportation, distribution and services. Wholly owned by the Vietnamese central government, it is responsible for all oil and gas resources in the country and has become its country's largest oil producer and second-largest power producer.
