About

The Bulgarian Football Union is an association of football clubs in Bulgaria. It was founded on June 27, 1985 in Sofia. It has 44 professional and 490 amateur clubs as members. Its seat is in Sofia. BFS is the legal successor of the Bulgarian Football Federation (BFF) (1962-1985). The current president of the BFS is Borislav Mihailov. The Union is an independent, mass public organization that guides the development of football in the country and bears direct responsibility for the activities of football clubs. The main goal of the BFS is to work for the mass and systematic practice of the football game by the youth and the working people, to raise the level of Bulgarian football to the best world achievements and to educate the moral virtues of football players. The Football Association has been a member of FIFA since 1923 and a member of UEFA since 1954.
