From July 2021, the city of Valmiera has merged with the surrounding territories, forming the second largest county in Latvia. Valmiera county and city have long production traditions. Valmiera is an industrial and industrial city - the business center of Vidzeme, as most of Vidzeme's largest companies are located here. Since the middle of the 20th century, the biggest production and trade companies of the Vidzeme region and also of the country have been concentrated in Valmiera, which are recognizable even outside the country's borders.
