About

IUCN’s Country Office for Mozambique, located in Maputo, is currently mainly focused on the following sectors:

(i) Integrated Coastal Management through its regional Resilient Coasts programme that aims at building up the resilience of marine and coastal ecosystems and of local communities.

(ii) Green Economic Growth through its SUSTAIN programme that focuses on sustainable and climate smart agriculture and on equitable and eco-responsible water resources use and governance, working with local farmers, governments, civil society and private sector.

(iii) Water Governance,  particularly through its BRIDGE programme that focuses on 3 river basins, namely Pungwe, Save and Busi rivers basins and Lake Niassa. IUCN is also an implementing partner in Mozambique of the Critical Ecosytem Partnership Fund (CEPF) that aims at supporting conservation projects located in the Eastern Afromontane Hotspot’s Mozambican Key Biodiversity Areas, namely Chimanimani Mountains, Mountains Islands (with a special focus on Mt Mabu, Mt Namuli and Mt Chiperone) and Lake Niassa.
