About

The country is still confronted with challenges, including poverty, insecurity and ethnic-based conflict. Rural-urban migration puts pressure on the weak infrastructure of urban centres and has led to the growth of informal settlements. They are characterised by a lack of education, health and child protection and children are at risk of neglect, abuse, violence and trafficking. The number of children in contact with the law and children in street situations is alarming.
