About
OUR VISION
We believe every person has the right to be safe: safe to be with their family and safe to rebuild their lives. Our vision is a world where the people who need it have safe passage to a place of safety, family, and justice.
OUR MISSION
We champion the rights of refugees and displaced people as they flee persecution, using the law to help them access a safe route to a place of safety. We work alongside refugees to campaign for change and build public support for safe passage for all.
OUR WORK
Reuniting child refugees with their family
Our legal teams in France, Greece and the UK work to help child refugees reunite with their families through a safe route to a place where they can rebuild their lives. You can learn more about each team’s work on their pages below:
We specialise in providing free advice and representation to unaccompanied refugee children and separated families in family reunion applications under the Immigration Rules or outside the Rules based on human rights.
We provide free legal advice and support in applications for entry clearance to the UK for unaccompanied children who wish to join their family in the UK. In particular, our team will:
- Advise the child and their family about making an application for entry clearance to the UK;
- Advise on the eligibility requirements, timeframes and evidence necessary for applying;
- Prepare witness statements with the child, UK-based family members and other relevant parties;
- Collect necessary evidence for the application, including expert reports when relevant;
- Complete the online application form and any necessary paper forms ;
- Monitor the decision-making process of the Home Office and help challenge any unreasonable delays.
If the application is unsuccessful, our team will:
- Advise on challenging the Home Office refusal decision in the First Tier Tribunal (Immigration and Asylum Chambers);
- Explain the timeframe and process of an appeal procedure in the UK;
- Occasionally represent the child and their family members in the appeal process, alongside a UK barrister;
- If the team is unable to represent the child in the appeal process, we will promptly refer them to external immigration lawyers for representation.
