The French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) is a key player in research, development and innovation in four main areas: defence and security, low carbon energies (nuclear and renewable energies), technological research for industry, fundamental research in the physical sciences and life sciences.

The Commission for Atomic Energy and Alternative Energies (CEA) is a public organization of science - research, technical and industrial (EPIC).
A major player in research, development and innovation, the CEA is involved in four areas: defense and security, low-carbon energies (nuclear and renewable), technological research for industry and basic research (material sciences and life sciences). Based on a capacity of recognized expertise, the CEA takes part in the establishment of collaborations with numerous academic and industrial partners.

Created in 1945 to implement a major political project - to develop all applications resulting from the sciences of the atom - the CEA remains the instrument that the public authority has equipped to conduct research presenting major strategic and societal issues . As part of this mission, the CEA develops new scientific knowledge and transfers technological innovations to the industrial world.
