About

In West Africa, the National Agency for Economic and Social Inclusion (ANIES) makes a significant contribution to poverty reduction and the development of Guinea's growth economy and is an effective means of sharing the fruits of economic progress.

Guinea has been enriched in recent years and economic policy has achieved significant success, particularly via the recovery of the mining industry, the normalization of macroeconomic indicators and the enhancement of economic attractiveness.

However, the consequences of economic success on poverty alleviation are insignificant and the nation's economic vitality does not appear to have enabled substantial progress in reducing poverty and disparities which have recently deteriorated. This stands in stark contrast to Guinea's natural wealth as it is the world's third-biggest bauxite producer after Australia and China and has the world's biggest bauxite reserves.

The Simandou mine has the world's biggest untapped iron deposits and Guinea has over six million hectares of farmland, only a third of which is in use which is why ANIES was established to both address the numerous issues associated with social and financial inclusion and also reach out to vulnerable communities with a digital identity and biometrics management system based on OSIA's (Open Standards Identity APIs) open standards approach, according to Secure Identity Alliance (SIA).
