Pact (South Africa)

In South Africa, Pact has led far-reaching, historic efforts to stem the spread of HIV and AIDS and provide critical services to those living with the disease.

We have strengthened the capacity of local organizations that provide testing, treatment and prevention services. With funding from the U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, or PEPFAR, Pact has facilitated the efficient flow of funds to partners, dramatically increasing the scope, scale and quality of services they offer across South Africa, with many of our partners "graduating" to direct funding from the U.S. government.

Currently, Pact is helping to build the capacity of South Africa's Department of Social Development to better support orphans and vulnerable children, including those affected by abuse, neglect or exploitation. Specifically, the project is strengthening the department's response to HIV and other diseases among vulnerable children.

With support from USAID, Pact is also working to promote and protect human rights among vulnerable populations across the Southern African Development Community region.
