Since February 2007, NIF Nemzeti Infrastruktursa Fejlsztó Zrt. (formerly Nemzeti Autópalya Rt.) has been performing its tasks in the field of expressways and public roads on behalf of the Ministry responsible for transport policy, and since the summer of 2007 it has taken over the tasks of railway development from the EU project office of MÁV Zrt.

As one of the country's largest public investment companies, NIF Zrt. will build or renovate approximately 650 km of expressways, 220 km of highways and almost 335 km of railway lines in the 2014-2020 EU budget cycle, as well as electrify 200 km of railway lines. Since 2017, our tasks have included the construction of intermodal junctions, independent cycle paths and railway GSM-R systems, as well as the implementation of inland navigation development projects.
