ENAC acts as the sole authority for technical regulation, certification, supervision and control in the civil aviation sector in Italy in compliance with the powers deriving from the Navigation Code. ENAC guarantees the safety of the flight and of the passengers transported both during aeronautical operations and on the ground at the airport. Safety is understood in the dual meaning of safety, as a form of protection of the safety of the people involved in aeronautical operations, and of security, as a form of prevention and neutralization of acts of illegal interference that can be implemented against the system of civil aviation (at the airport and on board the aircraft).
