Professional rehabilitation — a set of activities that ensure the acquisition of a new profession, professional knowledge or skills, according to the type of level of functional disorders of a person and taking into account his/her previous education and professional qualification.
Beneficiaries of professional rehabilitation - disabled people who have the recommendation from The State Medical Commission for the Assessment of Health Condition and Working Ability.
1991 - established Rehabilitation Centre
1992 - trainers and teachers’ study visit to the Hamburg Vocational Rehabilitation Centre; first 40 trainees commence their vocational training
1993 - the Labour and Social Affairs Ministry of Germany and Latvian Welfare ministry signs the Contract regarding the collaboration in the field of professional rehabilitation
1995 – the Centre opens a driving school for people with movement disorders and starts the car adaptation for people with disabilities
1996 – the Centre starts the provision of tests of professional adequacy
1998 – the Centre launches College level programmes
2004 – the Centre is merged with the Jaundubulti State Health Centre and becomes the Social Integration State Agency.
