About

The Professional Association of Banks and Financial Institutions of Benin has the following objectives:

  • to represent banks and financial institutions with political and monetary authorities and professional organizations;
  • to create and maintain useful and regular relationships between members, in particular by defining all rules of common interest between members of the profession and ensuring that these rules are respected by members of the ASSOCIATION;
  • to promote the role of savings and credit as one of the driving forces of the country's economic expansion, and to present to the Government and the Monetary Authorities any suggestions of general interest in these areas;
  • to study all questions concerning the exercise of the banking profession and related professions and to bring about agreements on these questions;
  • to ensure the effective management of the joint bodies that the Banks and Financial Institutions would constitute;
  • to intervene as an amicable judge or as a reporting arbitrator in disputes which may be brought and referred to it;
  • to pool information on the solvency and morality of commerce in general;
  • to play the role attributed to professional unions with regard to labor regulation;
  • to intervene in court in all proceedings where a bank is involved and where it considers that the general interests of the profession are at stake, either by filing a complaint with the courts, or by constituting a civil party, or in any other necessary manner;
  • to act as an intermediary between the Banks and the Central Bank for all matters of common interest.
