United Nations International Police Task Force/Internationale Politiemacht van de Verenigde Naties

The United Nations International Police Task Force (United Nations International Police Task Force in English; abbreviated to "UNIPTF") was deployed for a United Nations peacekeeping operation in Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1996 to 2003.

The operations of the UNIPTF and UN Civilian Office became known as the United Nations Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina or UNMIBH. According to the Dayton Treaty, the international community had to secure a truce in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Implementation Force (IFOR) led by NATO took care of this. UNMIBH took care of the civil aspects of the agreement and the stabilization of the country. As part of this, the police force monitored the day-to-day operation of the police in Bosnia and Herzegovina, advised and trained agents. In addition, they also ensured that elections were non-violent, they helped refugees return and search for the missing.
