About
The Somali Red Crescent Society (SRCS) is a non-political, independent humanitarian organization in Somalia and is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
Somali Red Crescent Society (SRCS) is an independent, non-political humanitarian organization that was established in April 1963 through Presidential Decree No. 187 in 1965. It was then recognized by the ICRC in 1969 and in the same year became a member of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. The Somali Red Crescent Society has operated continuously throughout the country’s period of civil war and political divide and is credited for its unity as one National Society. It operates through a network of 19 branches with its activities spread all across the country.
