The Umvoto Foundation Member

The Umvoto Foundation (TUF) has recently been formalised as the not-for-profit outreach organization of Umvoto Africa to undertake research, support and facilitate advocacy, outreach and social responsibility in the science-society interface of environment and water and related infrastructure. TUF also leads community-based education and citizen science initiatives, and local environmental rehabilitation and climate change adaptation projects. 

TUF aims to support people and communities living in a particular place to achieve clean water and healthy ecosystems, respected and cared for by present and future generations; to realise this through understanding natural processes and systems, by building creative, vibrant, safe, healthy and resilient communities and promoting leadership. TUF's goals are as follows:

• Increase responsiveness and resilience to water-related hazards
• Strengthen water ecosystem governance and capacity
• Enhance understanding, responsibility, empowerment and accountability
• Strengthen environmental justice
• Enhance and inform shared knowledge systems
• Strengthen innovation and adaptive capacity
• Build community resilience and wellbeing
• Increase ecosystem health

The Umvoto Foundation is able to assist with projects across the African continent and internationally.
