Gambia Ports Authority provides first-class services in a safe and efficient environment, which continuing to upgrade and expand its facilities in all areas to ensure its customers are satisfied, as well as establishing the necessary infrastructure to transform the Banjul Port into an important regional hub.

The Banjul Port Harbour lies on the estuary of the River Gambia and South Eastern part of the City of Banjul. It is a sheltered Harbour with a wide and safe inner anchorage area of 1 to 1.2 miles wide and 2 miles long. The Access channel to Banjul Habour is 26miles long and 1.5miles wide with a minimum depth of 9.0 meters. The harbour has two jetties which provide a total of 5 berths and a Ro/Ro facility. Two of the outer berths (3A and 3B) are dedicated Container terminals with a total length of 300 meters and depth alongside of 12.0 meters. The outer berth No.1 which has a length of 128 meters and depth alongside of 9.0meters is for general Cargo, petroleum, and vegetable oil Tankers which discharge their cargo via pipeline. The inner berths no.2 and no.4 have depths alongside of 6.0 meters and 8.0 meters respectively with a total length of 102 meters each. There is a dedicated petroleum Tank Farm located at Mandinary where a 2.5km submarine pipeline is laid from the Farm to a Multi buoy Mooring 4.5 miles South of Banjul harbour. The Petroleum product carriers calling Banjul Port are also moored at this facility to discharge their cargo via pipeline. The total storage capacity of the tank farm is 50,000 metric tons.
