CENTER FOR WELLNESS

Center for wellness is a community-based organization formed in 2019 and officially registered in 2021.  The main aim is to create a culturally competent and culturally safe space to help young and adolescent   youths realize their mental health and well-being. CFW also focuses on providing safe space for  LGBTI+ and Sex workers leadership to  heal; grow by being able to speak about their emotions and mental status. This is because the LGBT+ leaders experience burnout taking care of other LGBT person who look up to them on a daily basis but for them they have nowhere to run to whenever they are overwhelmed. CFW was therefore established to offer a safe space for the movement leadership in western Kenya whole addressing stigma and discrimination at work places against LGBT+ persons.

The organization has the following objectives

• To improve access to mental health care services to vulnerable members within Siaya County
• To advocate for inclusion of mental health program as a package of care for sexual and reproductive health right.
• To capacity build members on self-reliance through mentorship an apprenticeship program.
• To enhance organizational development and systems strengthening capacity to enhance effective delivery of programs.
