About

Aban Foundation

Angel Investing is an economic development tool which is why as an organization we regard ourselves as duty-bound to ensure the delivery of value adding human and financial capital to African startups by our Angel Networks. We do this by providing capacity building, cross-border investing insights, networking opportunities, mentorships and other critical resources to help our member Angel Networks maximize their impact on the African Startup Ecosystems.

At its core, ABAN exists to educate angel investment groups, promote the creation of new Angel Investor networks, create a contact point for emerging and existing networks, and support members in building African early stage investing ecosystems. In parallel, ABAN engages policymakers serving as a source of thought leadership on angel investing on the African continent.

ABAN began as a consortium of independent investor networks including Lagos Angels Network (LAN), Cameroon Angel Network (CAN), Ghana Angel Investor Network (GAIN), Venture Capital for Africa (VC4Africa), and Silicon Cape facilitated by the European Business Angel Network (EBAN) and supported by the LIONS Africa Partnership and DEMO Africa. In the interest of connecting these African networks, supporting new investors and networks to maximize their impact, and connecting African investors to their global counterparts, the need to form a Pan-African association of Angel Investor networks and other early-stage investors became clear and ABAN was born.
