Cooperativa Cocabel

Honduras Lempira Cocabel SHG EP is sourced from family-owned farms organized around Cocabel, a cooperative located in the municipality of Belén within the department of Lempira, Honduras. Cocabel supports producers who have small parcels of land for coffee cultivation and use organic practices to manage their land. Cocabel collaborates with an export company called BICAFE, which operates a warehouse and dry-mill in Santa Rosa de Copan. Weather conditions in Santa Rosa are ideal for storing parchment and the dry-mill is specifically designed for sorting high quality micro-lots. The partnership has helped to improve quality, increase earnings from coffee sales, and strengthen the livelihoods for members of Cocabel.
