SOCIETE PETROLIERE Ltd (SP) is a limited liability private company incorporated in the Republic of Rwanda for the importation and distribution of petroleum products. The company originated way back in 1967 as Fina Rwanda. In 1985 merged with BP to create BP Fina Rwanda. In 1998 the company was bought by Engen and the latter was sold to Sakirwa Petroleum S.A in 2001. In 2007, Sakirwa Petroleum changed its name to Societe Petroliere SARL (with SP as its Brand) following a change in its shareholding structure.
