About

Who is Karama Solidarity

Founded in 1992, Karama Solidarity is one of the largest and oldest Belgian non-profit associations. With a civic aim, it is guided by the wisdom of Muslim traditions.

We intervene with altruism and a humanitarian ethic that recognizes the origin, gender or religious and political beliefs of each person.

In Arabic 'Karama' means 'Dignity', what each of us has the right to.

Where does our association operate

Karama Solidarity operates mainly in 8 countries in Africa and Asia: Palestine, Bangladesh, Mali, Kenya, Ethiopia, Morocco, Niger and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
We help people in need, without proselytism or distinction of religion, culture or gender.

We also have a partnership with 33 countries in Africa, Asia and the Middle East, where we can intervene quickly in the event of a humanitarian crisis, with minimum cost and maximum efficiency.

Our vision of humanitarianism

Karama Solidarity works with local populations and reliable local partners who are more familiar with the issues that concern them. We are committed to getting local populations working to help them escape poverty by their own means. Thus, our partners carry out real support work alongside the inhabitants.

When we dig a well in Bangladesh, for example, we don't dig just one. We drill 400 wells a year, teaching the inhabitants how to manage them to maximize their sustainability.

We also offer sponsorship of orphans in Morocco and Palestine. Strictly controlled, sponsorships allow these minors to go to school, to be cared for, fed and to flourish to become strong adults.

Education is the best lever for emancipation. By knowing how to do things by yourself, you become autonomous and no longer depend on the help of others.

This is the vision of Karama Solidarity.
