About

CHAI began work in Rwanda in 2002, to reduce the burden of HIV in the country. Today, we are working with the government on a number of ambitious goals including universal health coverage, elimination of hepatitis C by 2024, the creation of public-private partnerships for timely, cost-effective diagnostics, and reducing child malnutrition through the production and promotion of locally produced crops and nutrient-dense fortified blended foods (FBF). We are helping to scale up and improve cervical cancer care and prevention by negotiating reduced prices for tools and products to screen and treat the disease, while supporting the introduction of new technologies. In 2012, CHAI partnered with the government to create an education system that could train a national health workforce which it is now successfully managing on its own.
