About

WACI Health is an Africa regional advocacy organization, which influences political priorities through an effective, evidence-driven Pan-African civil society voice and action. We are champions for health striving to ensure equitable access to healthcare for all in Africa. Our strategic approach, as outlined in our strategic plan (2016-2021), include three core strategies: policy and advocacy; strengthening southern advocacy; and civil society engagement in key decision making processes. Our theory of change is dynamic and interactive, with our three core strategies working together to impact three areas of global health work: (1) increased resources for health; (2) policies that improve health and achieve equity in health; (3) accountability in health governance and delivery.

WACI Health is an African regional advocacy organisation, influencing policy priorities through a Pan-African civil society voice and evidence-based action. In Africa, we strive to ensure equitable access to healthcare for all. We have outlined three core strategies in our strategic plan for 2016-2021: policy and advocacy, strengthening southern advocacy and involving civil society in key decision-making processes. We view our theory of change as dynamic and interactive, with three core strategies that work together to impact three primary areas of global health work: (1) increased resources for health; (2) policies that improve health and achieve equity; (3) accountability for health governance and delivery.

Our expertise in supporting and coordinating civil society groups for effective advocacy has been the bedrock of our work for 23 years. With years of experience, we have helped civil society coordinate at national, regional, and global levels to influence key decision-making processes and effectively advocate for policy change. Among the platforms we lead in this area include the Africa Free of New HIV Infections (AfNHI), the Global Fund Advocates Network (GFAN) Africa, the Civil Society Platform on Health in Africa, and the UHC2030 Civil Society Engagement Mechanism.

The UHC2030 Steering Committee, Primary Health Care (PHC) Strategy Group: GFF Coordinating Group were among the various technical and governance committees we have served. At the African Union level, WACI Health is a member of the MNCH Taskforce, and we served at the Africa Leadership Meeting on Investing in Health (ALM) task force. In addition, WACI Health enjoys observer status at the Specialised Technical Committee on health, a ministerial-level body by the Social Affairs Department, the highest decision-making platform for the African Union Member States Ministers of health.

WACI Health is a member of the ACTION-Global Health Advocacy Partnership, the Coalition on Health Research & Development (CHReaD), and the South Africa Health Technologies Advocacy Coalition (SAHTAC).
