CARE Osterreich

CARE Austria leads as independent of now 14 national member organizations both independent projects, but also regularly supports the project work of CARE International (CI).

After the Second World War large parts of Austria were in ruins, the people starved. More important were the more than one millionCARE packages that were distributed throughout the country. 40 years on, Austria was among the richest countries in the world and was thus able to give help to the whole world on. Thus was founded on May 14, 1986 CARE Austria. CARE pursues a clear objective in the global project work: to put sustainable action against poverty. According to CARE Austria is active worldwide since 1986 in 50 countries now.

For all projects, CARE Austria followed the guiding principle: to help themselves with the full involvement of stakeholders creates CARE conditions under which the parties involved are able to help themselves. And does so ultimately even superfluous.

Disaster Relief and Humanitarian Aid

In disasters and in times of crisis, CARE is part of its branches around the world in a position to quickly and efficiently to help.CARE provides food, shelter and medicines, but also provides psychological support. CARE refers those concerned in the relief efforts and gives them as soon as possible a piece of independence back. After major disasters CARE usually remains for years in the affected region to help with the reconstruction.

Sustainable Development Projects

The main objectives of CARE is one of the sustainable protection of the food and water supply. So CARE also performs numerous agricultural and forestry projects, which aim to increase crop yields and maintain soil fertility. In addition, CARE ensures that socially and economically disadvantaged people have access to income, education and health care as well as to political participation.

Advocacy: Together we are strong!

CARE operates advocacy to strategically influence national and international policy decisions that affect the lives of the poorest people in the world. Here CARE is based on dialogue and constructive policy advice.
