About
PANGEA SC consortium operates nationally and internationally in the agro-forestry, architectural, environmental and infrastructure sectors.
PANGEA uses participatory approaches and multidisciplinary methodologies to design interventions to defend the land and its people, soil, water, and natural resources, particularly against catastrophic events, both natural and man-made, through Spatial Planning, Land Management, and Sustainable Development.
The Pangea consortium operates in 5 macro sectors:
- Agriculture, rural development and forestry
- Environment and climate change
- Urban planning, heritage and local development
- Architecture and engineering
- Technical assistance and institutional building
In the area of "Agriculture, rural development and forestry" and , "Remote sensing and mapping using high resolution drone imagery", Pangea build a recognised leadership on control and monitoring activities, through projects such as of "Agro-Engineering and controls in agriculture, satellite photo interpretation (LPIS)", "Farm accountancy data network" (FADN)”, "On-the-spot controls in agriculture"The "Geographical Information System (GIS) implementation services" is a spatial system that creates, manages, analyzes and maps different families of data. In addition to these, there are more general activities in "Remote sensing and mapping using high resolution drone imagery".
PANGEA, during its 20+ years of operation, gained a large experience and specific expertise in "Forest fire fighting training" and "Land maintenance plans national park for rural and mountain areas" andimplemented international projects in different areas of the world.
The cooperative , through the creation of international partnerships, deals with solving different problems related to "Environment and climate change". In particular , the consortium develops projects in "Wildlife conservation and management," "Tree stability assessment," and "Implementation of quality schemes and labels within natural protected areas." Great effort is devoted to the field of pollution through projects in "Assessment of environmental footprint and carbon footprint of products and services," "GHG (Green House Gas) monitoring & Kyoto protocol" and "Renewable energy sources". Pangea, is also dedicated to water management projects, with a focus on "Water cycle management and planning" and the "design of water treatment process".
Consortium's efforts are also directed toward issues of "Urban planning, heritage and local development". To this respect, the consortium has developed great capabilities in the topics of "Urban regeneration, "Local development plans", "Restoration of historical heritage" and "Cultural centers, Museums and sports centers". Pangea is also engaged in drafting plans for the creation of smarter and environmentally sustainable cities, focusing on "Cycle and walking paths," "Smart mobility", and "Smart cities."
Directly linked to the "Urban planning, heritage and local" sector are "Architecture and engineering" activities with the drafting of "Urban Plans." In particular, Pangea focuses on mobility in all its aspects, including projects in "Roads, Railway, port and airport design," keeping the goal of "Sustainable mobility" firmly fixed.
The Consortium deals with immaterial projects through "Technical assistance and institutional building". Specifically, programs of "Technical Assistant to national and regional Paying Agencies in the agricultural sector Support in the adoption of a "pay as you throw "(PAYT)", "Technical Assistance (TA) including UNESCO management plans" and "Educational building," hooked to "Green Public Procurement" and "Master Plans."
PANGEA, whose consolidated turnover exceeded 25 million euros in 2011, is a member of and supported by the "Lega delle Cooperative e Mutue," anassociation representing more than 15,500 companies and 8.3 million members, one of Italy's most influential lobbies, accredited in Rome and Brussels, where it has its own office and staff.
PANGEA collaborates with some of the world’s major financing institutions such as European Commission, EBRD, World Bank and has direct experience with all phases of programme and project cycle management, including identification, preparation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programmes and projects.
