About

The Forum of International Solidarity Organizations for Migration (FORIM) is a national platform that brings together networks, federations and groups of organizations of International Solidarity from Immigration (OSIM) engaged in integration actions here and in development actions in the countries of origin. FORIM represents approximately 700 associations operating in sub-Saharan Africa, the Maghreb, South East Asia, the Caribbean and the Indian Ocean. Created in March 2002 with the support of the French public authorities, it demonstrates the willingness of its members to associate with all the components of French civil society, to promote the integration of populations from international migration, strengthen the exchanges between France and the countries of origin and contribute to the development of their region of origin. 

Their goals

The main objectives of FORIM are:

  • To ensure the representation of the OSIM at the level of the national associations and the various institutions promoting the dialogue with the public authorities; 
  • D value the contribution of OSIM to international cooperation and affirm the involvement of people of immigrant background in the development of countries of origin and their role in favor of integration in France;
  • To promote the access of the OSIM to various support mechanisms for national and international solidarity at European and international French level;
  • To be a space of information and exchanges for the OSIM at the same time as a resource center providing to its members all support or advice necessary to reinforce their capacities of action to allow its members to acquire the knowledge and skills required for international cooperation for local development and combating all forms of exclusion of inequality and discrimination here and there;
  • To promote networking and collaborations between OSIMs to foster cooperation between International Solidarity Organizations resulting from Migration (OSIM), International Organizations of Solidarity (OSI), other actors of civil society, local authorities and local authorities. public authorities;
  • To be a partner of the relevant public authorities and civil society organizations as a credible and reliable structure of well-integrated migrants, ie representing diversity in national unity committed to cohesion and social harmony in France, their country for the development of countries and regions of origin and the welfare of their populations;
  • Contribute to improving the overall effectiveness of solidarity and international cooperation by integrating and valuing the contribution of migrants to the enrichment of the host society and to the development of the country of origin.  

More specifically it is about:

  • Strengthen FORIM to better represent OSIM 
  • Make known, recognize and promote the contribution of the OSIM to the enrichment of the host society and the development of the countries of origin;
  • Inform about existing devices and strengthen the intervention capabilities of OSIM;
  • Promote access to co-financing schemes;
  • Strengthen the intervention capacity of OSIM thanks to the intervention of operators providing technical support for a better professionalisation of actions;
  • Contribute the contribution of the OSIMs to spaces of exchange, consultation and advocacy in France and internationally and contribute to the implementation of a European policy of co-development.
