About us

Clinical Hospital Center Split is a public institution that provides hospital and specialist-advisory health care, scientific and research activities in the field of medical sciences, and organizes and provides services for conducting classes at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Split and higher and secondary health schools.

KBC Split is the largest hospital center in Dalmatia, employing more than 4,000 employees. It is the central health institution of the Split-Dalmatia County and the entire southern area of Croatia, and is located in three locations in Split: Firula, Križine and the city center, and in one location outside Split, in a branch in Zagvozd.

About one million citizens of the Republic of Croatia and about 500,000 residents of the southern part of neighboring Bosnia and Herzegovina, and 500,000 tourists during the summer season, gravitate to our institution, as a regional hospital.

KBC Split has 1,500 acute and 30 chronic contract patient beds and 24 operating theatres. Within the hospital, there are 15 clinics, 4 clinical institutes, 6 institutes and 7 departments. A directorate and 12 departments have been established to perform other tasks. 

More than 50,000 patients are hospitalized annually in the institution, who receive more than 450,000 days of hospital treatment, while in polyclinic-council health care, more than 600,000 patients are admitted annually and more than 2.5 million services are provided.

 The owner of the hospital is the Republic of Croatia, and the rights and duties of the founder are performed by the Government of the Republic of Croatia. The seat is in Split, Spinčićeva 1. 
The basic general act is the Statute, and other acts are the Ordinance on work, the Ordinance on wages, salary allowances and other material rights of employees, and the Ordinance on job titles in the Clinical Hospital Center. 

The governing bodies of the Clinical Hospital Center are the Administrative Council, the Director, the Expert Council, the Expert College, the Ethics Committee, the Medicines Committee, the Quality Committee, the Internal Supervision Committee and the College of Nurses.
