Center for Research, Legal Advice and Protection for Women

The Center for Research, Legal Consultation and Protection for Women is an independent, non-profit center established in Gaza in 2005 based on the initiative of a group of Palestinian lawyers and activists from civil society organizations who believe in the importance of promoting women's social and legal rights by providing training and legal advice to achieve equality and justice, and democracy in the Palestinian society. The center was licensed by the Ministry of National Economy under No. 563141852 in May 2006.
The center aims to:
1- Adopting democratic national legislation that guarantees the promotion of the principle of gender equality in rights and duties.
2- Work to harmonize national legislation with international human rights standards in general, as well as with women's rights in particular, especially the convention that eliminates discrimination against women.
3- Conducting legal studies and research, studying laws and draft laws, and proposing alternatives to replace errors and weaknesses to achieve the first objective mentioned above.
4- Distributing specialized studies related to human rights in general and women's rights in particular.
5- Work to effectively provide legal protection for women before national courts and provide legal advice in order to achieve this protection.
6- Deepening the center's relationship with local community institutions interested in women's and legal issues at the Arab and international levels.
