Liepājas Pilsētas Pašvaldības Policija / Liepāja City Municipal Police

The Liepāja Municipal Police is an armed, semi-militarized municipal institution for the maintenance of public order and law enforcement of the Liepaja City Council, which, in accordance with the competence defined in the laws and regulations of the Republic of Latvia, operates in the administrative territory of the city of Liepāja. Five main tasks are distinguished in the municipal police regulation of the city of Liepāja:

• to ensure the safety of individuals and society;
• to prevent administrative violations and other violations of the law;
• detect administrative violations, search for persons who have committed administrative violations;
• to provide assistance to institutions, private individuals and associations of persons in the protection of their rights and in the fulfillment of the obligations established in accordance with the law, in accordance with the procedures provided for in the regulatory acts;
• apply administrative penalties in accordance with their competence.
