About
SMEC has operated in Vietnam since 1970, and established a permanent office in Hanoi in 1994. In 2008, SMEC opened a second office in Ho Chi Minh City.
SMEC’s first project in Vietnam was the Tam Phuong Water Control Project. This project aimed to improve drainage and salinity control of 6,000 ha of fertile land.
Since then, SMEC has worked on a number of key projects throughout Vietnam. These projects include: engineering design and construction supervision for the upgrade of 600 km of national roads in the northern and central regions; consulting services on the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Southern Coastal Corridor Project; a feasibility study for My Thuan Bridge; technical design review on Dong Nai Three and Four Hydropower Projects; and project management and construction supervision for the Son La Hydropower project.
Today, SMEC delivers high quality technical services for the lifecycle of a project and provides consultancy services to a broad range of sectors including:
