Sustainable resources is the reason for Montinutra existence. Our mission is to convert plant based side streams into valuable new ingredients.

With partners, we develop new ingredients for applications in cosmetics, coatings, paints and packaging. We enable an industrial transition to biobased economy.

Montinutra was founded in 2018. The background lies in extensive academic research of hot water extraction technologies and fractionation of biomasses.

We operate at a pilot scale in our Turku facility since 2021. We prepare to ramp-up an industrial scale operation in 2025-2026 with commercially significant volumes.

We utilize side streams, such as sawdust and bark. They are abundant and available globally, with state of art uses in combustion for energy.

With our ingredients, carbon emissions will be avoided when substituting fossil raw materials. The raw materials are side streams and sourced from certified forestry.

The highly sustainable production process is based on water based extraction and further physical fractionation of the biomass feedstock. It is zero waste, and leverages recycling of water and energy.
