SOCIETE SUCRIERE du MOSO (SOSUMO S.M) is a sugar cane CULTIVATION, SUGAR PRODUCTION and MARKETING company.
The Moso sugar project was included in Burundi's 3rd five-year economic and social development plan in the early 1970s.
The objective was to:
meet the growing demand for sugar in the country,
promote the economic development of the South-East,
mobilize the region’s local workforce,
save foreign currency by avoiding the importation of sugar.
