With the declaration of the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve (1990), the institution was also established for the administration of the natural heritage in the public domain of national interest of the Reserve, as well as for the restoration and protection of the physical-geographical units on the territory of the RBDD - the Administration of the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve (ARBDD) ).
The Administration of the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve (ARBDD) is a public institution, with legal personality, subordinated to the Ministry of Environment, Water and Forests, whose activity is carried out based on the provisions of Law no. 82/1993 regarding the establishment of the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve (RBDD), with subsequent amendments and additions, to the legislation on environmental protection, the legislation on the regime of natural protected areas, the conservation of habitats, flora and fauna, the legislation on fishing and aquaculture, the legislation regarding hunting and the hunting fund, etc.
Object of activity – Creation and application of a special administration regime for:
- the preservation and protection of biological diversity in the natural ecosystems of the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve
- the development of human settlements and the organization of economic activities in correlation with the supporting capacity of the natural ecosystems in the Danube Delta
- ensuring compliance with the provisions of the legislation in force for the protection of the environment and protected areas.
STATEMENT OF THE GOVERNOR OF THE DANUBE DELTA BIOSPHERE RESERVE REGARDING THE QUALITY POLICY
The development of the management plan is based on the existing scientific information about the natural values of the Reserve at the time of drawing up the plan, the regulations of the legislation in the field as well as the consultation of the factors involved or interested in establishing the management measures necessary to achieve the general objective of the Reserve. The development of the management plan is based on the experience gained in the administration of this protected area.
The management plan includes objectives and measures organized in a program of planned actions and which will constitute a working tool both for the Administration of the Reserve and for those who wish to carry out activities on the territory of the Reserve.
Exercising the attribution of environmental authority over the entire territory of the reservation is the form by which the Administration of the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve controls the development of economic and social activities, ensuring that they are carried out under the conditions of environmental protection and the elimination of anthropogenic impact on the natural deltaic ecosystems.
Ensuring the sustainable use of renewable natural resources is an important component of the ecological management of the reserve. This is achieved by organizing the knowledge of the productive potential of the natural deltaic ecosystems and conditions the evaluation of the possibilities of valorization of natural resources within the support limits of the deltaic ecosystems.
