Sociedad Municipal Aguas de Burgos, S.A.U.

The Municipal Company Aguas de Burgos, SA, is a company owned by the Burgos City Council, which is responsible for the direct management of services related to the integral water cycle (capture, purification and distribution of drinking water, as well as collection and purification of wastewater) in the municipality of Burgos and in municipalities of its Alfoz. It also carries out maintenance, cleaning and repair of facilities, both supply and sanitation. 

The company does not have minority shareholders, since 100% of the shares are owned by the Burgos City Council. 

It was established in 2010 for the following reasons: 

- Regularize the supply situation to Burgos city and adjacent towns through an administrative concession that, starting in 2013, materialized through a concession contract, with the implementation of a commercial fee.
- Establish better administrative, technical and economic control.
- Extend the existing conduction network, which would ensure the current and future water supply, both in quality and sufficient quantity.
