Description

The Caribbean Knowledge and Learning Network (CKLN) is an inter-governmental agency of the Caribbean Community, CARICOM. CKLN was mandated by the Heads of Government of CARICOM  with the responsibility to build a broadband fibre optic network called C@ribNET, connecting all CARICOM member states, with further connections to the rest of the world

CKLN's strategic objective is to enhance global competitiveness of the Caribbean by upgrading and diversifying the skills and knowledge of human resources in the region through greater regional collaboration and connectivity, specifically by:
  1. Supporting functional cooperation in the areas on education, health, culture, environment and security amongst CARICOM Member States 
  2. Providing a regional information management/knowledge management platform in support of collaboration and sharing of resources amongst CARICOM institutions
  3. Providing the appropriate e-infrastructure to support innovation and research
  4. Reducing the cost of connectivity and access
  5. Supporting the development of the Caribbean Single Market and economy
CARICOM agreed The Caribbean Knowledge Learning Network Agency be established as an institution of the CARICOM, pursuant to Article 21 of the Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas establishing the Caribbean Community inlcuding the CARICOM Single Market ands Economy.
