About
The African Water Association (AfWA) is a professional organization of African institutions, enterprises and utilities involved in drinking water, sanitation and the environment.
Established in 1980, AfWA now has around 100 members from 40 African nations that include non-governmental organizations, research institutions, utilities, academia and the private sector. AfWA acknowledges the significance of water and sanitation services to Africa's entire socio-economic development and to the continent's health, education, and overall growth.
AfWA, therefore, seeks to coordinate the search for information and recent developments in the technical, legal, administrative and economic domains of drinking water production, supply and sanitation, encourage the exchange of data on technologies, processes and procedures for producing, supplying, and sanitizing drinking water and organize, support and encourage any cooperative and exchange action in professional training.
